About Art All Night

What is Art All Night?

Art All Night Lawrenceville is one of Pittsburgh's most popular and populist arts events.

Art All Night debuted in 1998 with 101 pieces of art and 200 all night art lovers. It has gained a cult-like following over the years. In 1999, submissions grew to more than 200 pieces and attendance to more than 1,100 attendees. Art All Night drew even bigger crowds in 2000, with record attendees and over 300 artworks on display, and has continued growing steadily. In 2005, 868 artists displayed their work and more than 7000 guests attended. In 2007, 850 artists entered their work in the show which was seen be over 7,500 visitors.

Art All Night promotes artistic expression in all walks of life. The event particularly encourages children to be actively involved by contributing artwork and engaging in on-site arts activities. The show includes and attracts seniors, long-term residents, novice artists, educators, students, and seasoned professionals.

Art All Night is a catalyst for community development, shining a spotlight on our unique neighborhood. Lawrenceville has become a magnet for artisans, lovers of beautiful architecture, and people drawn to the spice and flavor of urban living.

Who Puts On Art All Night?

Art All Night is planned and coordinated by an all-volunteer organizing committee comprised of residents and supporters of Pittsburgh's vibrant Lawrenceville neighborhood. Dozens of additional volunteers help in the final stages to prepare the venue, construct exhibit panels, assist with the registration and hanging of artwork, provide refreshments, direct traffic, clean-up, and much much more. Live entertainment throughout the event is also donated by some of Pittsburgh's finest performers.

The work of community volunteers is generously supported each year by a range of sponsors and donors. See this year's Art All Night Sponsors. Art All Night is also supported by the strictly voluntary contributions of attendees, which support continuation of the event each year.
